 Our Mission

Science Data Bank (ScienceDB) is an open and trustworthy platform for data storage and publishing, which aims to serve the global open scientific data sharing.

ScienceDB provides data storage, long-term preservation, publishing, sharing and access services to global researchers, teams, academic journals & publishers, research institutions and universities. ScienceDB provides multiple data sharing methods and diverse data licenses, fully respecting and protecting the rights and interests of data owners.

ScienceDB is committed to publishing scientific data that conforms to mainstream data standards and practices, aiming to promote the findability, accessibility, interoperability and reusability of data, and promote the cultivation and healthy development of data sharing culture in research communities.

ScienceDB is built and maintained by the Computer Network Information Center (CNIC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

January
  • ScienceDB, in collaboration with Springer Nature, held the 2024 China Open Data Status Webinar.
April
  • ScienceDB successfully held the webinar on “Data Papers and Practical Pathways for Journal Data Management”.
May
  • ScienceDB, in collaboration with the Society and Journals Department of the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, co-hosted the second session of the webinar series Data Papers and Journal Data Management Practices - the Earth Science Special Session.

  • ScienceDB undertakes the project of “Submission of Paper Related Data” of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST).
July
  • ScienceDB and Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD) jointly released the “China High Impact Data Paper Ranking (2025)”.

  • ScienceDB AI was officially launched.

  • Reaching a consensus and signing a Letter of Intent with Springer Nature on open data cooperation.
