<dc:title>Clinical Dataset of Lip Mucosa Barrier Improvement and Oral Microbiota Exploration of a Lip Balm Product in Populations with Different Breathing Modes</dc:title>

<dc:description>This dataset comes from a single-blind parallel cohort clinical study with protocol No.2025-002, Version V1.0, conducted by Shanghai Dermatology Hospital. It contains clinical test and sequencing data of 66 subjects aged 18–65 years, divided into mouth-breathing experimental group and nose-breathing control group with 33 cases each. All subjects used Bishengzhiyan Lip Soothing Repair Ointment 4 times daily for 4 consecutive weeks. Data were collected at three time points: baseline Day 0, 15 minutes after product application, and 4-week follow-up. The dataset covers 4 categories of data: ① non-invasive instrumental measurements including lip TEWL, stratum corneum hydration, erythema value and lip mucosa OCT images; ② clinician semi-quantitative scores for lip dryness, scaling, stinging and edema; ③ oral mucosal microbial sequencing data including Shannon/Simpson diversity indices and relative abundance of dominant flora; ④ full safety records of adverse events, demographic baseline information and subject compliance logs. The dataset is designed to compare the repair efficacy of barrier-repair lip balm on lip mucosa between populations with different breathing modes, and explore the regulatory effect of lip care products on oral microecology. It fills the gap of evidence-based lip care data for mouth-breathing crowds, and supports research on cosmetic barrier efficacy evaluation, oral mucosal microecology and skin barrier. All personal identifiers of subjects are removed, and only unique trial codes are used for differentiation, complying with GCP and data privacy regulations.</dc:description>
