<dc:title>Wearable ECG–IMU and respiration-calorimetry data for heat-production prediction in growing pigs</dc:title>

<dc:description>This dataset contains synchronized physiological, motion and indirect-calorimetry measurements collected from 12 growing pigs at the Digestive and Metabolism Laboratory, West Campus of China Agricultural University, Beijing, China, from 5 June to 15 July 2026. The experiment comprised eight consecutive periods in three independent open-circuit respiration chambers (A1, B1 and B2), yielding 24 pig-by-period experimental units and 118 cumulative monitoring days. Each experimental unit included an initial 2-d adaptation period, a subsequent 2-d measurement period and a 1-d fasting period. A research-team-designed back-mounted sensor recorded 512-Hz single-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) signals together with 10-Hz triaxial acceleration and three-axis angle outputs. Gas exchange was recorded at 5-min intervals by open-circuit respiration calorimetry, and whole-animal heat production (HP) was calculated using the Brouwer equation. Network-synchronized clocks were used for the ECG, inertial measurement unit (IMU) and calorimetry acquisition computers, allowing records to be aligned by pig identity and timestamp. The planned release contains raw or minimally processed ECG and IMU signals, R-peak and heart-rate-derived data, 5-min calorimetry and multimodal matched records, animal and experimental metadata, the final 30-min analysis panel, variable dictionaries, quality-control and exclusion records, pig-grouped nested-cross-validation predictions, short-term individual-calibration outputs, and source data underlying the main figures and tables. After quality control, 4,079 matched 30-min windows were retained; the post-adaptation analysis set contained 2,470 windows. The dataset supports research on wearable animal physiology, ECG–IMU sensor fusion, heat-production prediction, subject-grouped machine-learning validation and short-term individual calibration.</dc:description>
