<dc:description>1. Study ObjectiveThis dataset was collected to investigate the current level of social integration in patients with a permanent enterostomy following colorectal cancer surgery and to identify its key influencing factors from a social rehabilitation perspective. The findings are intended to inform the development of targeted, multidisciplinary rehabilitation interventions.2. Study DesignA multicenter cross-sectional survey was conducted between September 2024 and September 2025 across four tertiary Grade A general hospitals in Sichuan Province, China. A convenience sampling method was used to recruit eligible participants.3. ParticipantsA total of 265 patients were initially recruited; after data cleaning, 250 valid cases were retained. Inclusion criteria were: (1) pathologically confirmed primary colorectal cancer with a permanent enterostomy; (2) at least 3 months post-enterostomy; (3) age ≥ 18 years; (4) aware of their diagnosis; (5) normal communication ability; (6) provided informed consent. Exclusion criteria included the presence of other malignancies or severe stoma complications (e.g., necrosis, severe infection) that prevented routine stoma care.4. Data Collection InstrumentsData were collected using a structured questionnaire package consisting of:General Information Sheet: demographics, socioeconomic status, clinical characteristics, and stoma-related factors.EORTC QLQ-C30 (Chinese version): a 15-dimension cancer-specific quality of life instrument; higher scores indicate better quality of life (Cronbach’s α = 0.83 in this study).Enterostomy Self-Care Scale: a 10-item, 5-point Likert scale assessing stoma management skills (total score 10–50; Cronbach’s α = 0.936).Self-developed Social Integration Assessment Questionnaire for Patients with a Permanent Enterostomy: a 21-item, 5-point Likert scale across four dimensions (economic status, social relationships, social participation, and psychological acceptance), with total scores ranging from 21 to 105; higher scores indicate better social integration (Cronbach’s α = 0.827). The four-dimensional structure was confirmed by exploratory factor analysis.5. Data Collection ProcedureQuestionnaires were administered via paper forms and the Questionnaire Star online platform. All investigators received standardized training. Data were double-entered and cross-verified by two independent researchers to ensure accuracy.6. Variables Included in the DatasetThe dataset contains the following types of variables:Demographic: age, gender, marital status, education level, residence, living arrangement, primary caregiver.Socioeconomic: source of income, medical payment method, monthly income, monthly stoma supply expenditure.Clinical: time since Miles surgery, stoma complications, comorbidities, chemotherapy status.Outcome measures: total and dimension scores of social integration, EORTC QLQ-C30 total score, and Enterostomy Self-Care Scale total score.7. Statistical Summary in the DatasetThe mean total social integration score was 71.21 ± 11.72 (out of 105). Mean scores for its four dimensions were: economic status (11.26 ± 3.36), social relationships (27.81 ± 3.74), social participation (15.76 ± 4.24), and psychological acceptance (16.38 ± 3.83). The mean quality of life total score was 98.9 ± 9.2, and the mean self-care ability score was 35.63 ± 7.56. Univariate analyses and multiple linear stepwise regression identified age, source of income, medical payment method, presence of complications, chemotherapy status, quality of life, and self-care ability as independent influencing factors (adjusted R² = 0.547, all P < 0.05).8. Ethics and Data SharingThe study was approved by the hospital ethics committee (Approval No.: KYLLKS20240016). All participants provided written informed consent. The dataset has been anonymized and is shared for non-commercial research purposes. Researchers interested in accessing the data are encouraged to contact the corresponding author for reasonable request and collaboration.9. File Format and StructureThe dataset is provided in an Excel (.xlsx) file, with each row representing one participant and each column representing a variable. Variable names and coding definitions are included in a separate sheet within the same file. The file also contains a data dictionary for ease of interpretation and secondary analysis.</dc:description>
