<dc:description>This study employed two questionnaire-based datasets to support the analysis. The first dataset was collected through a large-scale questionnaire study. A total of 494 responses were initially obtained. After data quality screening, including the exclusion of participants who failed attention checks or exhibited anomalous response patterns, 444 valid responses were retained for subsequent analysis. The second dataset was collected using a structured questionnaire developed based on a question-driven framework of explanation needs. The questionnaire consisted of four main components designed to systematically capture participants’ perspectives on automated aesthetic evaluation and related explanation requirements. A total of 313 valid responses were collected and included in the final dataset.Together, the two datasets provide complementary empirical evidence for examining user perceptions, preferences, and explanation needs in the context of automated aesthetic evaluation systems.</dc:description>
