<dc:title>Plasma catalytic bamboo shavings to produce high-quality syngas: Mechanism for Yield Optimization and Electrochemical Performance Enhancement</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.010b3</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This study employed low-temperature plasma technology to focus on the promoting effect of plasma on the gasification process of bamboo chips and the regulatory mechanism of plasma on the yield and quality of syngas. By adjusting different plasma atmospheres (especially oxygen concentration), it was found that oxygen plasma could significantly enhance the gasification efficiency: when the oxygen concentration was 8%, the yield of high-quality syngas reached a peak of 162.1 mL, and the calorific value of the syngas significantly increased, reaching 13.26 MJ/m3. Plasma not only accelerates the decomposition of biomass macromolecules through high-energy electron collisions and active oxygen species, promoting the release of volatile matter and the generation of small molecule gases, but also achieves efficient gasification at a lower temperature. At the same time, the microstructure of the solid product, bamboo charcoal, was also optimized. Oxygen plasma treatment effectively promoted pore development and introduced oxygen-containing functional groups. Further combined with chemical activation, the specific capacitance of bamboo charcoal-based materials could reach 224 F/g. This study achieved multi-level conversion of biomass from gaseous syngas to solid carbon materials, and revealed the unique advantages of plasma in promoting the coordinated regulation of biomass gasification and carbonization.</dc:description>
