<dc:title>Dispersal structure mass and seed mass across three dispersal-structure types</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.010bt</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>Dataset descriptionThis dataset provides global measurements of seed mass and dispersal structure mass for seed-bearing plants. The dataset was compiled through a systematic literature survey and manual extraction of trait measurements from published studies. Data were collected from 198 publications identified through literature searches in Web of Science and Google Scholar. The dataset covers three major types of dispersal structures: fleshy pericarps, elaiosomes, and wind-dispersal structures (e.g., samara wings and pappus). For each record, we compiled species information, dispersal structure type, seed number per dispersal unit (when available), dispersal structure mass per dispersal unit, and seed mass per dispersal unit. Seed number per dispersal unit may include non-integer values because some original studies reported the mean number of seeds per dispersal unit based on measurements of multiple dispersal units.Missing values occur where original publications did not provide seed number per dispersal unit. Missing values are retained as blank entries and were not imputed. The dataset file contains two sheets. The first sheet provides record-level measurements of seed mass and dispersal structure mass, and the second sheet provides the references of the 198 publications from which the data were extracted.</dc:description>
