<dc:title>Multimodal NIR and micro-XRF leaf spectral dataset of South American Nothofagus from a long-established common-garden living collection</dc:title>

<dc:description>This dataset contains aligned near-infrared (NIR) and micro-X-ray fluorescence (micro-XRF) leaf spectral data from 11 South American Nothofagus taxa maintained in a long-established common-garden living collection in southern Chile. The dataset comprises 117 sample units. Of these, 114 correspond to biologically independent trees, whereas three Nothofagus nitida observations represent technical replicates derived from a single biological powder sample and should not be treated as independent biological replicates. NIR spectra comprise 512 wavelength variables spanning approximately 896–2521 nm. For biological individuals, three technical spectra were averaged to obtain one sample-level spectrum. Micro-XRF data comprise 3,907 spectral channels spanning approximately 0.005–39.065 keV; three technical measurements were aggregated at the sample level for biologically independent trees. Both spectral modalities were acquired from the same homogenized leaf powder samples. The dataset supports analyses of taxonomic spectral differentiation, element-associated variation, multimodal data integration, and spectral phenotyping in Nothofagus. It accompanies the manuscript “Multimodal leaf spectral phenotyping reveals taxonomic and elemental differentiation in a long-established common-garden collection of South American Nothofagus.”</dc:description>
