<dc:title>Raw data for serological detection of Wenzhou virus (WENV) in human sera</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.010jr</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>Wenzhou virus (WENV) is an emerging mammarenavirus detected in rodents and humans, but its prevalence among febrile populations remains unclear. We screened 828 febrile patients in Yunnan Province, China, using enzyme‑linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), Western blotting (WB), and pseudotyped virus neutralization assay (PVNA). ELISA identified 22 positive cases (2.66%), of which five were confirmed by WB and four showed &amp;ge;50% neutralization by PVNA. Three serum samples from Chuxiong Prefecture were positive by all three assays, confirming the presence of WENV-specific antibodies. Human seroprevalence was significantly lower than that in local rodents (20.34%; &amp;chi;&amp;sup2; = 69.80, P ＜ 0.001). WENV-positive cases geographically overlapped with cases of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), consistent with the share rodent hosts of WENV and hantaviruses, including Rattus norvegicus and R. tanezumi. This study provides the first serological evidence of WENV in febrile patients in Yunnan and underscores the need for surveillance in high-risk areas to evaluate its transmission risk and public health significance.</dc:description>
