<dc:title>Annual 1 km Precipitation Concentration Index Dataset for China, 1951&amp;ndash;2025</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.010md</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset provides annual spatial distributions of the Precipitation Concentration Index (PCI) over the land area of China from 1951 to 2025, comprising 75 annual raster layers. Monthly precipitation inputs were obtained from the &amp;ldquo;China 1 km Monthly Total Precipitation Dataset (1951&amp;ndash;2025)&amp;rdquo;; the underlying precipitation records were derived from meteorological-station observations and spatially interpolated to produce continuous monthly grids at a 1 km spatial resolution. Following the PCI method proposed by Oliver (1980), PCI was calculated for each grid cell and year as 100 times the ratio of the sum of squared monthly precipitation amounts to the square of annual precipitation. Higher PCI values indicate that annual precipitation is concentrated in fewer months, whereas lower values indicate a more even monthly distribution. The dataset uses the WGS 84 Albers equal-area projection, was spatially clipped to the national boundary of China, and is stored as single-band GeoTIFF files. All annual layers share a consistent spatial extent, 1 km pixel size, raster dimensions, and NoData definition. The source thematic product underwent complete metadata and value-range checks for all 75 PCI rasters, and formula recalculation at 20 sampled grid cells produced no failures. Additional checks after boundary clipping confirmed temporal completeness, grid consistency, and valid values. Valid PCI values across the full period range from 8.63 to 79.08. The dataset can support studies of precipitation seasonality and spatiotemporal variation, as well as water-resource management, agroclimatic assessment, drought and flood risk analysis, and climate-change impact research.</dc:description>
