  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.010po</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset is from a cross-sectional survey on the phenomenon of &amp;quot;social phobia&amp;quot; (社恐) self-labeling among Chinese university students, collected in May 2024 at a comprehensive university in Zhejiang Province, China. A total of 225 undergraduate and graduate students participated; after excluding 2 participants with missing data on the key exposure variable, the analytic sample comprised 223 students (female 160, 71.7%; male 63, 28.3%; freshman 217, 97.3%).The dataset includes: (1) Perceived Norms: A multi-select item assessing attitudes toward the &amp;quot;social phobia&amp;quot; self-label, scored by taking the highest severity level endorsed (1&amp;ndash;4; M = 3.13, SD = 0.72). (2) Self-Labeling: A single dichotomous item (yes = 1, no = 0; 127 self-labeled, 57.0%). (3) Inventory of Interpersonal Problems&amp;ndash;32 (IIP-32): 32 items rated 0&amp;ndash;4; total range 0&amp;ndash;128 (M = 47.0, SD = 19.7; Cronbach &amp;alpha; = 0.93). (4) Social Phobia and Anxiety Inventory&amp;ndash;23, Chinese version (SPAI-23 social phobia subscale): 21 response items rated 1&amp;ndash;5; total range 21&amp;ndash;105 (M = 55.9, SD = 15.4; Cronbach &amp;alpha; = 0.95). (5) Demographics: Gender and grade year.Personally identifiable information (student ID, IP address, device information) has been removed. Scale items are referenced by item numbers only (item wordings are not included due to copyright); the variable codebook documents scale sources and scoring rules. The original questionnaire was administered in Chinese; the dataset includes bilingual (Chinese&amp;ndash;English) coding lookup tables. This dataset was used in the following published article: Li G, He Z, et al. Self-labeling with social anxiety among Chinese university students: associations with perceived norms and psychosocial outcomes.</dc:description>
