<dc:title>Data to "Prioritizing spatial extent over resolution in shaping the performance of species distribution models: Insights from a multi-scale assessment of Cerris oaks in China"</dc:title>

<dc:description>Our study provides novel insights into how spatial extent and resolution jointly shape the performance of species distribution models (SDMs), focusing on three Cerris oak species in China. We demonstrate that spatial extent has a stronger influence on model accuracy than resolution, with national-scale models performing better than narrower climatic extent ones. Our findings highlight the need to prioritize appropriate spatial extent and carefully consider resolution in relation to species-specific traits when designing SDMs. This work offers a transferable approach for building robust, ecologically realistic SDMs under multi-scale environmental conditions, which is crucial for biodiversity conservation and ecological forecasting.</dc:description>
