<dc:title>Effect and Mechanism of Surface Functional Group Modification on Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production Performance of Ti-MOF</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.011gw</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>Surface conjugation engineering is an efficient strategy to enhance the photocatalytic performance of MOFs. In this work, MIL-125(Ti) was chosen as the parent framework, and three Ti-MOF nanocatalysts with distinct surface functional groups (amino, imine, amide) were synthesized through a post-synthetic modification method. All of the above conjugated surface structures were tested to see how they changed the photophysical properties and hydrogen-evolution activity. Spectroscopic characterization revealed that the amide-functionalized (CONH2-MIL-125(Ti)) exhibited the highest light-harvesting capacity and the longest fluorescence lifetime (89.65 ns). The p-&amp;pi; conjugation effect effectively enhances the electronic properties of the material and promotes the separation of photogenerated charge carriers. Photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance displayed that CONH2-MIL-125(Ti) exhibited the best performance, and the hydrogen evolution rates increased by 25.5% and 73.4% over those of CN-MIL-125(Ti) and NH2-MIL-125(Ti), respectively. Under the mild alkaline conditions (pH 8), abundant protons on the reaction interface accelerate the hydrogen evolution kinetics. Benefiting from the extended p-&amp;pi; conjugated system, amide grafting simultaneously strengthens light absorption and suppresses charge recombination. Therefore, the amide modification strategy provides a reliable approach to regulate and improve the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance of Ti-based MOFs.</dc:description>
