<dc:title>Mechanical and Tribological Properties of Fe3C Particle-Hardened DP Steel</dc:title>

<dc:description> To address the insufficient wear resistance of dual-phase steel, we developed a heat treatment process combining spheroidizing annealing and subcritical quenching proposed, resulting in a triplex-phase microstructure. The wear conditions of the material at different times were tested by a ball-on-disc friction and wear test apparatus, and the wear resistance of the obtained dual-phase steel samples (DP1, DP2) was compared with the commercial DP590 steel. The results showed that the wear increment of the test steel (DP1, DP2) was much lower than that of the same strength grade DP590 steel with the increase of time. As the wear time increases from 600 s to 3 600 s, the wear increments of DP1 and DP2 were only 0.9 mm3 and 1.3 mm3, while DP590 reaches 4.8 mm3. At this time, the wear rates of DP1, DP2 and DP590 were 5.3×10−4 mm3/(N·m), 6.3×10−4 mm3/(N·m) and 15.4×10−4 mm3/(N·m), respectively. Based on the inverse relationship of wear rate, the wear resistance of DP1 was increased to about 3 times that of DP590 steel, and the wear resistance was greatly improved. The wear mechanism of the test steel was dominated by abrasive wear in the initial stage, and with the extension of wear time, it showed a mixed wear mechanism of abrasive and adhesive wear. The cementite particles in the DP1 and DP2 matrix constitute the key factor to improve the wear resistance by inhibiting the multi-phase synergistic effect formed by adhesive tearing and dual-phase structure.</dc:description>
