<dc:description>This dataset is the supporting data for the paper “The Effect of Perceived Social Mindfulness on Upstream Indirect Reciprocity in Cooperative Contexts: The Moderating Role of Interaction Partner Similarity.” The dataset contains data from three behavioral experiments and questionnaire data. Experiment 1 employed a 2 (perceived social mindfulness: high vs. low) × 2 (interaction partner: original vs. new) mixed design, with 104 valid participants, to examine the effect of perceived social mindfulness on direct reciprocity and upstream indirect reciprocity in cooperative contexts. Experiment 2a used a 2 (perceived social mindfulness: high vs. low) × 2 (interaction partner group similarity: high vs. low) between-subjects design, with 144 valid participants; interaction partner group similarity was manipulated using the minimal group paradigm. Experiment 2b used a 2 (perceived social mindfulness: high vs. low) × 2 (interaction partner character similarity: high vs. low) between-subjects design, with 146 valid participants; interaction partner character similarity was manipulated using a personality test. The main variables include participant ID, age, gender, experimental condition, scores on each dimension of the perceived social mindfulness manipulation-check questionnaire, and the number of tokens contributed to the public pool in the public goods game. All data were anonymized. The data can be used to examine the effect of perceived social mindfulness on upstream indirect reciprocity and the moderating role of interaction partner similarity.</dc:description>
