2026-09-28 A Dataset of Visual Elements Coding and Co-occurrence Matrix for Chaoshan Qiaopi Envelope Visual Schemata Research doi:10.57760/sciencedb.013vc en This dataset supports a quantitative study on the visual schemata of Chaoshan Qiaopi envelopes. It comprises three files: (1) a visual elements coding table (.xlsx) containing item-by-item coding records for 187 Qiaopi envelope samples from the Shantou Qiaopi Cultural Relics Museum, with coding dimensions including image-dominant, text-dominant, image-text juxtaposition, and decorative symbols, as well as specific type variables such as landscape envelope, red envelope, reply envelope, square-frame envelope, advertising envelope, and pre-printed envelope, coded as 0 (absent) or 1 (present); (2) a co-occurrence matrix (.xlsx) that records the frequencies with which visual elements co-occur on the same envelope, revealing associative patterns and structural regularities among visual elements; (3) a codebook (.pdf) defining each coding variable, its value labels, and coding criteria. All data files are stored in tabular formats and can be opened directly with Microsoft Excel or WPS without specialized software.
