<dc:title>Hourly Seamless Total Column Water Vapour Dataset over China at 0.01&amp;deg; Resolution (2019-2023)</dc:title>

  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset provides seamless hourly total column water vapour (TCWV) fields over China at 0.01&amp;deg; spatial resolution for 2019-2023. It integrates polar-orbiting near-infrared, geostationary thermal-infrared, and microwave satellite retrievals through cross-sensor harmonization and progressive proximity-based adaptive fusion (PPAF). Spatial holdout validation against Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observations from the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China (CMONOC) yielded a root mean square error (RMSE) of 3.68 mm. Independent validation against radiosonde observations from the Integrated Global Radiosonde Archive (IGRA) yielded an RMSE of 3.31 mm. By capturing fine-scale water vapour gradients and their hourly evolution over complex terrain and across land&amp;ndash;sea transitions, the dataset supports detailed monitoring of atmospheric moisture, analysis of water vapour transport, and investigation of water vapour buildup and redistribution associated with extreme precipitation. It also provides high-resolution water vapour information for developing and evaluating data assimilation and precipitation forecasting methods, benchmarking numerical weather prediction models, and examining land-atmosphere interactions. The continuous multiyear record further enables comparisons across weather events and seasons, assessments of interannual moisture variability, and integrated studies of the regional water cycle, extending its utility across meteorological, hydrological, environmental, and climate applications.</dc:description>
