<dc:title>Long-term corrosion evolution of archaeological iron associated with burial-derived surface deposits and historical coatings</dc:title>

<dc:description>This dataset contains the raw data supporting the paper "Long-term corrosion evolution of archaeological iron associated with burial-derived surface deposits and historical coatings." It documents the multi-scale, multi-technique characterization of corrosion products on archaeological iron artifacts, focusing on the long-term interaction between burial-derived surface deposits and historical protective coatings. The dataset includes: sample descriptions and archaeological context; micro-morphological and cross-sectional images obtained by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM); phase composition of corrosion products analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy; elemental and chemical-state distribution data from energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS); and related electrochemical measurements. Data are organized by sample ID and analytical method, and include raw spectra, images, acquisition parameters, and processed data tables. This dataset provides a basis for studying corrosion mechanisms of archaeological iron, evaluating protective materials for excavated iron artifacts, and investigating the interaction between historical coatings and burial-derived deposits. It can also support the validation and comparison of long-term corrosion evolution models in corrosion science.</dc:description>
