<dc:title>Data from experiments on the resettlement of Brandt's vole populations along their historical southern border</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.34602</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset originates from an experimental study on the reintroduction of Brandt's voles (Lasiopodomys brandtii) from their high-latitude core distribution area (Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia) to their low-latitude peripheral area (Baochang, Xilingol). The original samples were captured in April 2023 using cage trapping from typical grasslands in Hulunbuir. After two weeks of indoor pregnancy screening and 30 days of enclosure acclimatization at their destination, the experiment was officially launched. The dataset covers field monitoring data from June 2023 to June 2024. Processing steps included: monitoring population density dynamics using the capture-tag-recapture (CMR) method; investigating plant community composition using quadrat sampling (0.5 m &amp;times; 0.5 m) and measuring aboveground biomass using the oven-drying method (55 &amp;deg;C to constant weight); and, after the experiment, manually excavating and mapping the depth of burrow chambers and food storage chambers to obtain behavioral adaptation data. Population density was estimated using the minimum known number of survivors (MNA) method. Statistical analysis was performed using R 4.3.2 software, and a linear mixed-effects model (LMM) and nonparametric tests were applied to investigate differences between treatment groups.</dc:description>
