<dc:title>Antimicrobial Resistance in Escherichia coli Isolated from Surface and Groundwater Sources in Gampaha District, Sri Lanka: A One Health Perspective</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.36317</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset contains antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of Escherichia coli isolates recovered from surface water (n=93 isolates; 52 sites) and ground water (n=84 isolates; 161 samples) in Gampaha District, Sri Lanka, collected between November 2023 and November 2024. Susceptibility was tested against ten antibiotics using the Kirby&amp;ndash;Bauer disc diffusion method in accordance with CLSI M100 guidelines (34th edition). Data include resistance classifications for ampicillin, amoxicillin-clavulanate, gentamicin, tetracycline, ciprofloxacin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, cefotaxime, ceftazidime, chloramphenicol, and ertapenem, along with phenotypic detection results for ESBL and AmpC beta-lactamase production. Water source type, sampling site, water body category, and E. coli colony counts (CFU/100 ml) are also recorded. The dataset supports environmental antimicrobial resistance surveillance and One Health research in South Asia.</dc:description>
