<dc:title>Consensus sequences of five structural proteins of human respiratory syncytial virus</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.38158</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>The amino acid sequences of the major structural proteins of hRSV, including fusion protein (F), attachment glycoprotein (G), matrix protein (M), nucleoprotein (N), and phosphoprotein (P), were retrieved from the NCBI Virus database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/labs/virus/). Notably, the attachment glycoprotein (G) was searched using three different names: &amp;quot;human respiratory syncytial virus&amp;quot;, &amp;quot;human respiratory syncytial virus A&amp;quot;, and &amp;quot;human respiratory syncytial virus B&amp;quot;. The search was limited to sequences submitted between January 1, 2015, and March 2026 to include recent globally circulating strains.A total of 5,968 F, 5,873 G, 2,726 G (subtype A), 2,448 G (subtype B), 5,960 M, 5,959 N, and 5,959 P raw sequences were initially collected. To ensure data quality, we implemented a rigorous preprocessing pipeline using Python scripts. Sequences containing ambiguous amino acid residues (e.g., &amp;quot;X&amp;quot;) were excluded, and redundant sequences were removed to retain only unique variants. After processing, the final dataset comprised 1,150 unique F protein sequences, 2,880 unique G protein sequences, 1,345 unique G protein sequences of subtype A, 1,226 unique G protein sequences of subtype B, 190 unique M protein sequences, 288 unique N protein sequences, and 413 unique P protein sequences. To account for the high genetic variability of hRSV while maintaining broad-spectrum coverage, these non-redundant sequences were aligned using MAFFT (Multiple Alignment using Fast Fourier Transform), and consensus sequences for each protein were generated using EMBOSS Cons (https://www.ebi.ac.uk/jdispatcher/msa/emboss_cons).</dc:description>
