<dc:description>This study adopted a combination of purposive sampling and maximum variation sampling to select participants from the valid questionnaire sample of Study 1. The screening criteria were as follows: based on scores on the Professional Commitment Scale (high commitment defined as 1 standard deviation above the mean, low commitment as 1 standard deviation below the mean) and the Employment Anxiety Scale (using the same criteria), four basic combinations were formed. Additionally, participants’ levels of proactive personality (high/low) were determined by their responses to two questionnaire items: whether they had internship experience lasting more than one month and whether they had served as class cadres.Based on these criteria, a total of 25 graduating students from an applied private university in Shandong Province were ultimately included as participants, distributed across six combinations: high commitment–low anxiety–high proactivity, low commitment–high anxiety–low proactivity, high commitment–high anxiety–low proactivity, low commitment–low anxiety–high proactivity, low commitment–high anxiety–high proactivity, and high commitment–low anxiety–low proactivity. The interview guide was designed around the research objectives and five core domains: unique causes, professional commitment, psychological capital, employment anxiety, proactive personality, and coping behaviors. First, an initial draft was developed based on a systematic review of relevant literature, and iteratively revised with feedback from the supervisor and peer experts. Prior to the formal interviews, two students from the same population were selected for a pilot interview. Based on pilot feedback, some questions were revised for greater conversational clarity, redundant items were removed, and the final interview guide was refined to last approximately 20 minutes. The Chinese version of NVivo was used for data organization and coding analysis. NVivo supports systematic coding of multi-format data such as text and audio, and assists in theme extraction and group comparison through functions including node matrix queries, word frequency analysis, and group comparisons, making it one of the most widely used analytical tools in qualitative research. With the written informed consent of participants, all interviews were audio-recorded using a voice recorder to ensure data completeness and traceability. The final valid transcripts total 181,700 characters, with an average of approximately 7,270 characters per interview transcript.</dc:description>
