<dc:description>For the assembly of 459 SCNs using whole genome sequencing （WGS） data. A total of 459 high-quality core orthologs (SCN) with no missing were retained which were present in all 16 accessions ( including two outgroup species and 14 from Camellia sect. Thea were designated the ‘16taxa-SCN’ dataset. Among these, 14 samples including 11 of 12 species of Ming and Bartholomew (2007) (except for C. sealyana T. L. Ming endemic to Laos because no material for DNA studies is available) supplemented with an additional three species: C. formosensis (Masam. & S.Suzuki) M. H. Su, C. F. Hsieh & C. H. Tsou published after Ming’s treatment (Su et al., 2009), and two species, C. assamica (J. W. Mast.) H. T. Chang and C. remotiserrata H. T. Chang, supported by a barcode study (Shen et al., 2025). Pyrenaria oblongicarpa Hung T. Chang and Polyspora axillaris (Roxb. ex Ker Gawl.) Sweet as outgroups.</dc:description>
