<dc:title>Parallel Corpus and Information Restructuring Rate Analysis Data for Six English Translations of the Analects (Including Public Domain Translations and Fair Use Samples of Copyrighted Translations)</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.39166</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset supports the research of the paper &amp;quot; The Information Entropy Perspective of Translator Behavior: Translation Orientation and the Continuum of&amp;quot; Truth seeking Pragmatism &amp;quot;in the English Translation of the Analects&amp;quot;. The data includes sentence level parallel corpora and related analysis results of six English translations of the Analects. The six translations are divided into two groups: L1 English native translators (Legge 1893, Waley 1938, Slingerland 2003) and L2 Chinese native translators (Gu Hongming 1898, Liu Dianjue 1979, Ames&amp;amp;Rosemont 2009). There are a total of 2400 sentence pairs (400 sentences per translator), with approximately 16000 words in the Chinese source language.&amp;nbsp; The provision method of this dataset:&amp;nbsp; The official translations (Legge 1893, Waley 1938, Gu Hongming 1898) and copyrighted translations (Slingerland 2003, Liu Dianjue 1979, Ames&amp;amp;Rosemont 2009) only provide examples of the first 10 sentences of the translation (in compliance with the fair use provisions of Article 24 of the Copyright Law);&amp;nbsp;Partial sentence level information reconstruction rate (IRR), entropy values (1-gram to 4-gram), linear mixed effects model input data, and other statistical analysis intermediate results are fully provided;&amp;nbsp;Complete Python analysis code (able to reproduce the generation of all statistical results and charts in the paper).&amp;nbsp; If users need to use the complete content of copyrighted translations for commercial or large-scale academic research, they should apply for authorization from relevant publishers (such as Hackett Publishing, Penguin Classics, Ballantine Books) on their own.&amp;nbsp;</dc:description>
