<dc:title>Enhanced Thermal Conductivity of Wheat Straw Biochar/PEG Composite Materials with High-temperature Reduced Copper Nanospheres</dc:title>

<dc:description>	Phase Change Materials (PCMs) demonstrate considerable potential in thermal energy storage applications; however, their practical implementation remains hindered by inherent drawbacks such as low thermal conductivity and susceptibility to leakage. This study proposes a high-conductivity shape-stabilized phase change materials(ss-PCMs) composed of wheat straw biochar (WSB), polyethylene glycol (PEG), and high-temperature reduced copper nanospheres. The ss-PCMs were synthesized through a two-step method: initial high-temperature reduction and deposition of copper nanospheres onto the WSB surface, followed by PEG encapsulation via vacuum impregnation. Systematic characterization of the ss-PCMs were performed by SEM, XRD, FT-IR, DSC, TGA, thermal conductivity measurement, and leakage test. The resulting ss-PCMs exhibited exceptional thermal conductivity of 0.456 W/m·K, representing a 42.9% improvement over pure PEG. The pre-deposited copper nanospheres within the WSB framework established an efficient thermal conduction network prior to PEG impregnation, thereby achieving superior heat transfer performance, while the porous biochar structure ensured effective confinement of PEG. Furthermore, the ss-PCMs retained a high latent heat capacity of 59.21 J/g and demonstrated leakage-free property and excellent cycling stability with 98% retention after 100 thermal cycles. To validate the generalizability of this strategy, comparative experiments were performed using peanut shell and corn stover biochars as alternative matrices, confirming the broad applicability of the approach. This research provides a generalized and alternative approach for enhanced thermal conductivity of high-performance ss-PCMs and the prepared ss-PCMs hold great potential in advanced thermal management systems.</dc:description>
