<dc:description>This study was conducted based on the Mesosm experimental system located at the teaching and internship base of Huazhong Agricultural University College in Wuhan, Hubei Province (30 ° 29'N, 114 ° 22'E). The experimental system consists of 48 cylindrical polyethylene cylinders (volume of 2500 L, diameter of 1.5 m, height of 1.4 m). This study used two environmental stress factors: water temperature rise (W, with or without) and surface runoff pulse disturbance (P, with or without), and set up two different food web combinations (S, simplified or complex), with a total of eight different treatments: control (0), temperature rise (W), food web simplification (S), surface runoff pulse disturbance (P), temperature rise+surface runoff pulse disturbance (W * S), temperature rise+surface runoff pulse disturbance (W * P), food web simplification+surface runoff pulse disturbance (S * P), and temperature rise+food web simplification+surface runoff pulse disturbance (W * S * P), with six replicates for each treatment. Regularly monitor the changes in physical and chemical indicators of the water body during the experiment, including conductivity, total dissolved solids (TDS), total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), ammonia nitrogen (NH4+- N), and nitrate nitrogen (NO3-- N), with a monitoring frequency of once every two weeks. At the end of the experiment (December 12, 2024), benthic animals in the mid universe system were harvested and sampled. In addition, the biomass of aquatic plants, attached algae, and fish in each treatment was measured synchronously at the end of the experiment. </dc:description>
