<dc:title>Study on Fracture Mechanics of Irregular Top Coal Blocks In Longwall Top Coal Caving Ming</dc:title>

<dc:description>	In the process of fully mechanized top-coal caving mining, the irregular large-size top-coal block increases the likelihood of obstructions at the coal caving mouth, lowering mining efficiency. In this paper, three-dimensional laser scanning, shape classification, and uniaxial compression crushing tests were conducted on the top coal block in a coal mine in Gansu Province. The crushing mode, classification properties, and crushing strength law of the coal block were thoroughly studied. The data reveal the following key points: (1) The load-displacement breakage curve of the top-coal block can be classified into four types: multi-peak before peak, multi-peak after-peak, parallel-peak, and single-peak. The size of the fragments produced by breakage follows a fractal distribution, with a fractal dimension of 2.028. (2) The top coal block's breaking strength follows a Weibull distribution with an average modulus of 2.354. Larger coal particles are more spherical and have lower crushing strengths, indicating a size effect. In contrast, flat particles tend to have a multi-peak curve before the peak and a wider particle size dispersion. (3) Particle form and size affect top coal block crushing. For crushing uniformity and coal extraction efficiency, smaller, flatter top coal blocks should be processed first during mining.</dc:description>
