<dc:title>Divergent Iron Acquisition Strategies from Dust-Relevant Minerals in Marine Diatoms under Iron Limitation</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.41211</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset contains the experimental data supporting the investigation of iron acquisition from different iron-bearing minerals by the marine diatoms Phaeodactylum tricornutum and Thalassiosira pseudonana. The dataset includes mineralogical characterization, dissolved iron concentrations, algal growth measurements, nutrient dynamics, physiological parameters, and transcriptomic sequencing data generated during controlled laboratory experiments. The dataset consists of the following files and folders:Mineral-XRDThis folder contains X-ray diffraction (XRD) data for six iron-bearing minerals used in this study. These data were collected to characterize the crystalline mineral phases before biological experiments.Mineral-M&amp;ouml;ssbauerThis folder contains M&amp;ouml;ssbauer spectroscopy data for the six iron-bearing minerals. The data provide information on iron oxidation states and coordination environments within the mineral structures.Fe.xlsx This file contains measurements of dissolved iron (Fe) concentrations in the experimental media for all treatment groups throughout the incubation period.Growth curves of P. tricornutum and T. pseudonana under iron stimulation by iron-bearing minerals.xlsxThis file contains growth data for Phaeodactylum tricornutum and Thalassiosira pseudonana cultured with different iron-bearing minerals as the sole iron source. Growth was monitored throughout the experimental period.Nutrient salt.xlsxThis file contains measurements of dissolved nutrient concentrations, including nitrate (N), phosphate (P), and silicate (Si), in all experimental treatments during incubation.OD600 + Total Chlorophyll.xlsxThis file contains optical density (OD600) measurements and total chlorophyll concentrations for all experimental treatments, providing physiological indicators of algal growth and photosynthetic status.Raw fastqThis folder contains the transcriptomic sequencing data generated from Thalassiosira pseudonana and Phaeodactylum tricornutum cultured with different iron-bearing mineral treatments. These data were used for comparative gene expression analyses to investigate the molecular responses associated with mineral-derived iron utilization.Together, these datasets provide comprehensive mineralogical, geochemical, physiological, and transcriptomic information for investigating interactions between marine diatoms and iron-bearing minerals under controlled laboratory conditions. They support analyses of mineral properties, iron availability, algal growth, nutrient utilization, and cellular responses associated with mineral-derived iron acquisition.</dc:description>
