<dc:title>Datasets of International Port Major Accidents and Impact factors</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.42489</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>Ports are the core infrastructure of the maritime industry, but they are affected by multiple factors such as natural environment, human operation, and social situation, resulting in frequent accidents and serious losses during the construction and operation process. However, there is currently a lack of comprehensive and reliable statistical data on port accidents, which makes it difficult to support systematic analysis of accident causes, cross factor correlations, and regional differences. Therefore, based on the perspective of process analysis, this data article adopts the meta case analysis method, combined with Web of Science (WOS) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases, as well as official reports from port authorities, government accident investigation files, authoritative industry news, and port official website systems to collect 291 cases of major port accidents that occurred in 58 countries worldwide from 2001 to 2022. Based on the case analysis, core variables such as accident area distribution, type classification, influencing factors, and consequences are identified and sorted out, forming a standardized international port major accident and influencing factor dataset. This dataset is the most valuable for port safety management professionals and academia, as it can integrate qualitative and quantitative information from the perspective of accident process analysis to achieve standardized accident assessment and management.&amp;nbsp; This dataset is presented in the form of an Excel spreadsheet, covering 13 fields and 291 case data.&amp;nbsp;</dc:description>
