<dc:title>A functional magnetic resonance imaging dataset on the effects of self-relevance on the early visual cortex</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.43559</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset was collected from a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) study investigating whether self-relevance modulates neural activity and representational patterns in the early visual cortex. The study employed an arbitrary association paradigm involving meaningless nonword stimuli and identity labels. Participants learned associations between nonwords composed of English letters and either &amp;ldquo;Self&amp;rdquo; or &amp;ldquo;Other&amp;rdquo; identity labels, thereby minimizing the potential influence of semantic experience and long-term familiarity. The dataset includes 14 healthy adult participants. The experiment comprised a main nonword&amp;ndash;identity association task, a functional localizer task designed to identify the neural representations of different visual stimuli, and a resting-state scan. Both the main task and the functional localizer task used block designs. The dataset contains anonymized structural MRI data, task-based fMRI data, resting-state fMRI data, field maps, and experimental event information. All data are organized according to the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS) standard, providing a reusable resource for research on self-related processing.</dc:description>
