<dc:title>Fungal community, soil environmental, and cultivable fungal isolate data associated with ancient Platycladus orientalis in the Beijing sector of the Taihang Mountains</dc:title>

<dc:description>This dataset contains processed fungal amplicon sequencing data, sample metadata, soil physicochemical properties, enzyme-activity measurements, sequencing quality-control statistics, and cultivable fungal isolate records associated with ancient Platycladus orientalis at three sampling sites in the Beijing sector of the Taihang Mountains. Rhizosphere-soil fungal communities were characterized by sequencing the ITS1 region, whereas root-endophytic fungal communities were characterized by sequencing the ITS2 region; the two amplicon datasets are therefore provided separately. The soil environmental variables include electrical conductivity, pH, soil water content, organic matter, available nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium, soil urease activity, neutral phosphatase activity, and catalase activity. Rhizosphere-soil subsamples from each site were combined in equal amounts to form one site-level composite soil sample, and five technical replicates were measured for each physicochemical property and enzyme activity. The deposited files include sample metadata, ASV abundance tables, representative ASV sequences, taxonomic assignments, sequencing quality-control statistics, soil environmental measurements, cultivable fungal isolate records, and accompanying documentation. These data support quality assessment, reanalysis, methodological comparison, and studies of fungal communities associated with ancient trees.</dc:description>
