  <dc:title>Catch and stable isotope data</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.44172</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset was generated from field surveys conducted in April and October 2025 in the fluctuating backwater zone of the Three Gorges Reservoir in the upper Yangtze River. The study areas included the Hujiatan spur-dike area in Banan, Chongqing, and a non-dike area in Fuling. Three sampling sites were established in each study area. Fish were collected using gillnets, whereas shrimp and crabs were collected using traps. Samples for stable isotope analysis included fish, shrimp and crabs, zooplankton, phytoplankton, and particulate organic matter. Biological samples were stored at low temperature, freeze-dried, and ground before &amp;delta;&amp;sup1;&amp;sup3;C and &amp;delta;&amp;sup1;⁵N were measured using an elemental analyzer&amp;ndash;isotope ratio mass spectrometry system, with certified reference materials used for calibration. The dataset contains two files, &amp;ldquo;Catch data.xlsx&amp;rdquo; and &amp;ldquo;Stable isotope data.xlsx&amp;rdquo;, each with two worksheets, &amp;ldquo;Banan&amp;rdquo; and &amp;ldquo;Fuling&amp;rdquo;. The fields include species name, catch weight, and abundance, with catch weight expressed in grams. The stable isotope dataset contains 207 records, including 87 from Banan and 120 from Fuling. The fields include sample type, &amp;delta;&amp;sup1;⁵N (Air), and &amp;delta;&amp;sup1;&amp;sup3;C (VPDB), with isotope values expressed in &amp;permil;. Repeated records for the same species represent different individuals or samples and were not aggregated into mean values. The data may be affected by gear selectivity, individual variation, sample preparation, and instrumental measurement errors. All files are provided in .xlsx format and can be opened using Microsoft Excel, WPS Office, or LibreOffice Calc.</dc:description>
