<dc:title>A morphological phylogenetic matrix dataset of Gryllidae Integrating Mid-Cretaceous amber and compression fossils</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.44261</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset supports the study &amp;ldquo;A morphology-based phylogeny of Gryllidae: Insights from a conspecific pair of mid-Cretaceous amber crickets&amp;rdquo;.It comprises three character&amp;ndash;taxon matrices used in the morphology-based phylogenetic analyses of the cricket family Gryllidae. A total of 51 morphological characters were coded, partitioned into two anatomical regions: body characters (characters 0&amp;ndash;32) and tegminal venation characters (characters 33&amp;ndash;50). The sampled taxa include representatives of extant gryllid subfamilies, mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber fossils (including a conspecific male&amp;ndash;female pair of Elongatitarsus falcatus gen. et sp. nov.), and compression fossils.Matrix 1 (Comprehensive dataset): Comprises all 22 taxa and 51 characters. This serves as the primary dataset for inferring the phylogeny of Gryllidae and evaluating the placement of fossil taxa relative to extant lineages.Matrix 2 (Venation-only dataset): Comprises all 22 taxa but is limited to the 18 characters describing tegminal venation (characters 33&amp;ndash;50), designed to test whether venation alone can resolve relationships within Gryllidae.Matrix 3 (Excluding venation-only fossils): Comprises 15 taxa and 51 characters. Seven compression fossils preserved solely as tegminal impressions were excluded, retaining only taxa with body structures, to test whether a dataset with reduced missing data yields a more stable topology.</dc:description>
