<dc:title>Kinematic data of tail displays in three Phrynocephalus lizard species from sympatric and allopatric populations in Pakistan</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.45309</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset contains kinematic measurements of tail displays (tail coiling and tail lashing) from three Phrynocephalus lizard species: Phrynocephalus clarkorum, Phrynocephalus luteoguttatus, and Phrynocephalus ornatus. Data were collected from sympatric and allopatric populations in Nushki District, Balochistan Province, Pakistan, during April-June 2024.The dataset includes:1. Six kinematic variables: duration, amplitude, and average speed for tail coiling; duration, volume, and average speed for tail lashing2. Species identification for each individual3. Population type (sympatric vs allopatric)4. Morphological measurements (snout-vent length, body mass)5. Environmental data (body temperature, GPS coordinates)Data were collected using stereoscopic video recordings (two synchronized HD cameras at 24 fps) and 3D kinematic reconstruction using DLTdv6. Each kinematic parameter was extracted from reconstructed 3D trajectories of the tail tip relative to the tail base. The data support the analysis of:- Species-specific kinematic signatures in tail displays- Character displacement in sympatric populations- Discriminant function analysis for species classification- Jaccard dissimilarity analysis of display repertoiresTotal sample size: 65 adult male lizards- P. clarkorum: n = 17 (10 sympatric, 7 allopatric)- P. luteoguttatus: n = 29 (16 sympatric, 13 allopatric)- P. ornatus: n = 19 (10 sympatric, 9 allopatric)All animal handling procedures were approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of the Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Approval No. CIBDWLL-2022-004).</dc:description>
