<dc:title>Transcriptome sequencing data of receptive-phase Ficus hispida syconial bracts under ozone stress</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.45357</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset contains transcriptome sequencing data generated from the bracts of receptive-phase syconia of Ficus hispida exposed to ozone under controlled laboratory fumigation conditions. Corresponding control samples were collected at comparable experimental time points. RNA sequencing was performed to investigate the molecular responses of receptive syconial bracts to ozone stress (200 ppb), with particular emphasis on genes involved in volatile organic compound biosynthesis, antioxidant defence, detoxification, and stress-responsive metabolism.Transcriptomic analyses were used to identify differentially expressed genes associated with terpene biosynthesis, including terpene synthase genes related to the production of germacrene D, nerolidol and &amp;alpha;-farnesene. The dataset also supports the analysis of cytochrome P450 monooxygenases, flavin-containing monooxygenases, glutathione S-transferases, and genes involved in phenylpropanoid and flavonoid biosynthesis. These pathways are relevant to ozone-induced oxidative stress, metabolic resource allocation, and changes in volatile chemical signalling. The transcriptomic data were further integrated with GC&amp;ndash;MS volatile profiles and weighted gene co-expression network analysis to identify gene modules potentially associated with ozone-responsive changes in volatile organic compound synthesis and emission. The dataset provides a resource for studying the molecular effects of atmospheric ozone pollution on floral scent production, plant defence and chemical communication in the obligate mutualism between Ficus hispida and its pollinating fig wasps.</dc:description>
