<dc:description>This dataset supports a mixed-method study investigating the construction, design translation, and prototype evaluation of companion experience in intelligent companion robots. The deposited materials consist of four parts. The first part contains a preliminary survey and 78 de-identified responses covering autonomy, competence, relatedness, anthropomorphism, size and material preferences, and emotional expression requirements. The second part contains a six-dimension companion experience questionnaire and 155 de-identified responses measuring Autonomy and Boundaries, Emotional Comfort, Responsive Resonance, Stable Presence, Reciprocal Efficacy, and Meaningful Attachment, together with overall companionship experience, robot appeal, and long-term interaction intention. The third part contains a semi-structured interview guide addressing companion types, everyday interaction patterns, autonomy, competence, and relatedness. The fourth part contains a user evaluation questionnaire and 12 de-identified responses assessing how the proposed design characteristics influence perceived companionship, use appeal, and long-term interaction intention. The dataset includes Chinese–English bilingual questionnaires, a bilingual interview guide, de-identified response data, English variable names, item-to-variable mappings, and supporting documentation. Names, contact details, IP addresses, and other direct personal identifiers are not included. Original interview recordings and full interview transcripts are not deposited. The dataset may support research in human–computer interaction, intelligent companion robots, social robotics, affective interaction, companion experience, and user-needs research.</dc:description>
