<dc:title>Parametric FE study of inclusion-induced stress concentration in offshore steel wire ropes under tension and torsion</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.45634</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset supports the findings of the parametric finite element study on stress concentration in offshore steel wire ropes induced by non-metallic inclusions (MnS and Al₂O₃). It includes key numerical simulation results derived from a three-layer steel wire rope model under axial tensile and torsional loading. The data are organised as follows:&amp;nbsp;(i) stress-strain response curves, including maximum von Mises stress as a function of inclusion depth, maximum von Mises stress as a function of inclusion apex angle, and equivalent plastic strain as a function of torsional strain;&amp;nbsp;(ii) interfacial von Mises stress fluctuation&amp;nbsp;at the wire-inclusion interface for different inclusion materials and depths. All data presented in this dataset are derived from finite element simulations using ABAQUS and HyperMesh. Additional supporting data&amp;mdash;including geometric parameters, material properties, mesh convergence results, post-yield plastic data, and stress distribution contours&amp;mdash;are fully presented within the associated article. No additional external datasets were generated or analysed during this study. This dataset provides a systematic numerical reference for understanding inclusion-driven stress localisation in offshore steel wire ropes, contributing to improved structural integrity assessment of mooring and lifting systems in the maritime industry.</dc:description>
