<dc:title>A Remote Sensing Dataset of Cladophora Blooms in Lake Qinghai Based on Random Forest and Sentinel 2 (2017 2025)</dc:title>

<dc:description>Influenced by climate “warming and wetting” and rising water levels, coastal Cladophora blooms frequently occur in Lake Qinghai, creating an urgent need for long-timeseries datasets with high spatiotemporal resolution. Based on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform and Sentinel-2 remote sensing imagery (10 m, May‑October 2017‑2025), this study constructed a feature set incorporating the Chlorophyll Spectral Index (CSI) and red-edge bands to train a Random Forest model for extracting Cladophora. The dataset comprises 10 m monthly Cladophora distribution raster maps and a monthly bloom area statistics table. Data analysis indicates an intra-annual seasonal pattern: Cladophora blooms initiate at the Buha River mouth in May, expand rapidly during June‑July, peak in August (15‑35km2), and decline in September‑October. Spatially, blooms are highly concentrated at the Buha, Shaliu, Cheji, Datong, and Heima river mouths. Interannually, the bloom area increased continuously from 2019 to a record peak in 2021, maintained a high plateau (25‑30km2) during 2021‑2023, and attenuated significantly in 2024‑2025. Featuring reliable quality, this dataset provides foundational data support for ecological governance in Lake Qinghai and research on the ecological responses of alpine lakes to climate change.</dc:description>
