2026-08-18 Two new fossil taxa from Calophyllaceae in Cuddalore Sandstone Formation, Tamil Nadu, India at a newly discovered site in the Late Miocene to early Pliocene doi:10.57760/sciencedb.46198 en Growth ring boundaries are indistinct. Wood is diffuse-porous. Vessels are solitary and in radial multiples of 2-3, arranged diagonally, 4-10 (6) per mm2, round to oval. Vessel diameter t.d 112-228 µm(160µm), r.d 102-335 µm(270µm), vessel length 281-583 µm (399 µm), thin-walled, simple perforation plate, tunicate end, intervessel pits alternate, minute ≤ 4 µm. Tylosed. Apotracheal parenchyma absent. Paratracheal parenchyma aliform to confluent. Rays 2-5 cells wide, 10-21 (15) rays per tangential mm, ray length 272-1211 µm (552 µm), Rays heterocellular with one row of square marginal cells. Vasicentric tracheids present, 1-2 layers. Fibre libriform, extremely thick walled, non-septate, t.d 15-30 µm(µm), r.d 13-26 µm(µm), lumen - µm rectangular to polygonal.
