<dc:title>Cross-biome Soil Viruses as an Important Reservoir of Virulence Genes</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.iga.0018w</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This study analyzed 29,283 soil viral contigs from diverse ecosystems worldwide and found that 1,164 carried virulence genes, representing 321 virulence-gene types. The findings indicate that soil viruses may facilitate the transfer of virulence genes among bacterial hosts and serve as an important reservoir of virulence genes in terrestrial ecosystems, with potential implications for pathogen evolution, agricultural production, and human health.</dc:description>
