<dc:description>a. Data content (data file/table name, including observation index content)

The spatial distribution dataset of China's coastal aquaculture ponds in 2015 reflects the spatial distribution of China's coastal aquaculture ponds in 2015.

b. Construction purpose

The rapid expansion of coastal aquaculture ponds has become an important reason for the loss of natural wetlands in coastal areas of China. In recent years, the Chinese government has continuously strengthened the protection and management of coastal wetlands, adopting a series of projects such as returning vegetation to wetlands and forests. Monitoring the spatial distribution of coastal aquaculture ponds in China is an important foundation for sustainable management and protection of the coastal ecological environment, maintenance of regional ecosystem security, and related scientific research work.

Monitoring the distribution of coastal aquaculture ponds in China in 2015 can provide scientific basis for China's scientific protection of the coastal ecological environment, solving the contradiction between economic development and environmental protection, providing benchmark year (2015) data for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), tracking the implementation progress of SDGs, especially SDG 14, and providing key data support for China's specific compliance actions with the International Convention on Wetlands.

c. Service object

It can widely serve scientific and technological workers, government management agencies, and public environmental organizations in related disciplines such as geography, ecology, environmental science and technology.

d. Time range of data
