<dc:title>Dataset of spatio-temporal variations of the urban heat island effect in Wuhan Metropolitan Development Area from 2000 to 2024</dc:title>

<dc:description>This dataset is the supporting data for the paper "Comparison of methods for exploring spatiotemporal variations of urban heat island effect: With Wuhan Metropolitan Development Area as an example". In the context of global climate change, the urban heat island effect ( UHI) poses a severe threat to the health and fe quality of resdents. This study is based on Landsat surface temperature data from November 2000 to 2024 in Wuhan, and systematically compares the analytical ability and planning applicability of two methods that have emerged in recent years for extracting typical spatiotemporal features to serve practical planning needs. The "time-space" method, which first extracts the trend of time changes and then divides the space based on the similarity of the trend of time changes, and the "space-time" method, which first divides the space based on the similarity of the trajectory of time changes and then extracts the trend of time series. This dataset is the data that supports the charts and research conclusions of the paper. Specifically, it includes: 1. SHP format files for urban and rural reference areas. 2. XLSX format files showing the trend of intensity zoning changes in surface urban heat islands based on both the "time-space" method and the "space-time" method. This type of file can be opened using ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap series software. 3. MPK format files for the spatial pattern of urban heat island intensity zoning based on the "time-space" method and the "space-time" method, respectively. </dc:description>
