<dc:description>This dataset is the correlation data for the paper "Functional divergence of soil nitrogen cycling patterns between valley and ridge topographies in a typical subtropical forest". The research subjects are samples from three soil depths of 0-10 cm, 40-50 cm, and 90-100 cm in subtropical forest valleys and ridges. The dataset includes sample information, soil physicochemical properties, relative abundance of nitrogen cycling related functional genes, nitrogen metabolism pathways and 8 types of nitrogen metabolism functional indicators, species relative abundance of inorganic nitrogen transformation functional bacteria, ammonium assimilation functional bacteria, and nitrogen mineralization functional bacteria, as well as alpha diversity indices of three types of functional bacteria. The above data is mainly used to support the analysis results of the differences in soil nitrogen cycling function, functional microbial community structure, and their relationship with environmental factors under different terrains and soil depths in the paper. The data is provided in CSV format, accompanied by sample numbers, terrain, and soil depth related explanations. </dc:description>
