<dc:description>Biodiversity plays an irreplaceable role in maintaining the material cycle, energy flow and climate regulation of ecosystems. To fill the gap in the record of bird and mammal diversity in the Black-necked Crane National Nature Reserve in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River (Lhasa Section), we set up 68 sample points and 36 infrared cameras from May 2023 to April 2024. This survey accumulated a total of 12 410 camera working days, and obtained 204 514 valid images and 17 675 independent valid records. After investigation and image identification, a total of 12 species of mammals (belonging to 4 orders and 9 families) and 81 species of birds (belonging to 13 orders and 32 families) were recorded. Among them, the Lhasa area is home to 6 species of first-class national key protected wild animals and 15 species of second-class national key protected wild animals. Additionally, 70 species of birds and mammals have been included in the “List of Terrestrial Wild Animals with Important Ecological, Scientific and Social Values”, and 19 species have been listed in the list of key protected wild animals of the Xizang Autonomous Region. According to the IUCN Red List, this dataset contains 1 endangered (EN) species, 1 vulnerable (VU) species, and 7 near threatened (NT) species. There is 1 species listed in Appendix Ⅰ, 11 species in Appendix Ⅱ, and 4 species in Appendix Ⅲ of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). This dataset comprehensively records information such as the shooting locations, independent photos, protection levels, phylogenetic affiliations, and endemic species of each species group, which can provide scientific support for regional biodiversity conservation and adaptive management.</dc:description>
