<dc:title>Dataset of soil fauna species from the Changbai Mountains survey (2019-2021)</dc:title>

<dc:description>Soil fauna diversity is fundamental to the functioning of temperate forest ecosystems, yet systematic multi-taxon species list datasets covering complete elevational gradients remain scarce. To address this gap, the present dataset was compiled by systematically collating and standardizing our team’s field sampling and taxonomic data from the northern slope of the Changbai Mountains (2019–2021), together with data derived from published studies. The dataset covers representative forest plots in the Changbai Mountain and includes species checklists, taxonomic classifications, abundance records, and sampling information, with a total data size of 53 KB. It encompasses six taxonomic groups, namely springtails, mites, beetles, spiders, centipedes, and millipedes, involving 50 families with a total of 210 soil fauna species. For each species, comprehensive taxonomic information is provided, including Latin species name, Chinese names of species, genus name, family name, order name, class name, phylum name, and kingdom. This dataset can be used to analyze soil fauna community composition, identify dominant taxa, and compare diversity patterns across taxonomic levels, thereby effectively enhancing the sharing and reuse value of long-term monitoring data on soil fauna in the Changbai Mountain, and providing a data foundation for forest soil health assessment, research on soil ecological processes under global change, and soil fauna biodiversity conservation in the Changbai Mountain.</dc:description>
