  <dc:title>Geochemical dataset for the Dove&amp;rsquo;s Nest borehole，Cleveland Basin，UK</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.cjxb.00015</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This data table presents sedimentary geochemical analytical results from the Dove's Nest borehole core in the Cleveland Basin, UK, used to investigate the relationship between volcanic activity of the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province (CAMP) and marine environmental evolution during the end-Triassic mass extinction (ETME). The parameters are described as follows:Sample: core sample number or stratigraphic horizon name.Depth (m): burial depth of the sample in the core, in meters (m).Age (Ma): absolute age estimated according to a stratigraphic chronostratigraphic model, in millions of years (Ma). Each sample represents an average of approximately 5,000 years of sedimentary record, after Ruhl et al., 2010.&amp;delta;&amp;sup1;&amp;sup3;Corg (&amp;permil;): stable carbon isotopic composition of organic carbon, expressed in per mil (&amp;permil;), used to indicate organic matter sources and paleoenvironmental changes.TOC (wt.%): total organic carbon content, expressed as weight percent, reflecting the abundance of organic matter in the sediment.Hg (ppb): total mercury content, in parts per billion (ppb), used as a tracer for volcanic activity (CAMP eruptions).TS (wt.%): total sulfur content, in weight percent, used to evaluate the redox state of the depositional environment.Al (wt.%): aluminum content, in weight percent, commonly used as a normalization factor for terrigenous detrital input.K (wt.%): potassium content, in weight percent, related to clay mineral composition and chemical weathering intensity.K/Al: potassium-to-aluminum ratio, used to indicate changes in continental weathering intensity.Hgex (ppb): excess mercury content (in ppb), calculated by subtracting the terrigenous detrital background mercury from total mercury, more accurately reflecting the enrichment of volcanogenic mercury.CO₂ (Gt): estimated amount of carbon dioxide released by CAMP volcanic activity based on mercury‑carbon emission models, in gigatons (Gt).This dataset provides fundamental geochemical support for investigating the spatiotemporal relationship between CAMP volcanic activity and the two-phase extinction.</dc:description>
