<dc:description>This paper investigated the changes in nitrogen fixation functions in black soil that has been treated with herbicides for a long time. The basic components included the residual concentrations of five herbicides (carbaryl, isopropamidic herbicide, isoxazolinone, atrazine, flusulfamide), the abundance and diversity of nitrogen-fixing bacteria (nifH gene), and the soil nitrogen fixation rate (NFR). Specific parameters covered the total amount of herbicides, the abundance of nifH gene, the α/β diversity index, the co-occurrence network module, the ecological niche width (B value), and the nitrogen transformation rate, etc. The data format involved quantitative data based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and nifH gene amplimer sequence data based on high-throughput sequencing. Data accuracy was ensured through standard methods, blank controls, spiked recovery, replicate samples, PCR and sequencing quality control. In terms of data coverage, this study covered the typical black soil agricultural area in Hailun City, Heilongjiang Province, China, with samples from corn-soybean rotation fields with a history of over 20 years of herbicide application. The focus on pollutant types was on five mixed-used herbicides.</dc:description>
