<dc:title>Dataset for Measuring Idea Similarity in Multimodal Academic Papers</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.j00133.00650</dc:identifier>

<dc:description>This dataset is constructed using academic papers published between 2018 and 2024 from Chinese journals in the field of information resource management, namely *Data Analysis and Knowledge Discovery*, *Journal of the China Society for Scientific and Technical Information*, and *Journal of Intelligence*, totaling 4,500 articles. Research flowcharts and their contextual textual descriptions were extracted from these papers. Through manual screening, low-quality or unclear diagrams were excluded, resulting in 1,750 high-quality multimodal samples. Furthermore, due to the substantial effort required to retrieve similar samples from actual publications, this study generates analogous samples through self-constructed methods for experimental purposes.Similarity in research flowcharts is reflected not only in synonym substitution but also in logic-based structural reorganization. Accordingly, this study constructs a similarity sample dataset based on the aforementioned scenarios. Specifically, under the synonym substitution scenario, the overall layout and structural framework of the original diagram remain unchanged, with only the textual content being modified. Some similar samples are constructed through conceptual substitution while maintaining the general research logic. Under the structural reorganization scenario, samples are generated primarily by altering the shapes, sequencing, or orientation of the flowchart elements while preserving the textual content, thereby retaining the overarching research approach.Based on the above methodologies for constructing similarity samples, this dataset treats the originally extracted research flowcharts as baseline samples and further incorporates similarity samples generated via operations such as synonym substitution and structural reorganization.</dc:description>
