<dc:title>Tree Shew Model of Hantaan Virus Infection</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.j00139.00332</dc:identifier>

<dc:description>Hantaan virus (HTNV), a major cause of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in Asia, lacks a suitable animal model. This study demonstrates that the tree shrew (Tupaia belangeri) is susceptible to HTNV infection and recapitulates human HFRS renal pathology. Transcriptome analysis revealed HTNV induces host metabolic reprogramming, suppressing de novo lipogenesis and enhancing fatty acid oxidation. Crucially, fatty acid synthase (FASN), a key lipogenic enzyme, was identified as essential for HTNV replication. FASN knockdown or inhibition (TVB-3664) reduced viral proliferation by disrupting lipid droplet formation and boosting type I interferon responses. Mechanistically, the HTNV nucleocapsid protein (Np) recruits and interacts with FASN to hijack the lipogenic pathway. These findings reveal a novel link between HTNV replication and host lipid metabolism, identifying FASN as a critical host factor. Targeting this pathway presents a promising antiviral strategy for HFRS.</dc:description>
