Its core mechanism involves anti-BP180/BP230 autoantibodies attacking the basement membrane zone, leading to subepidermal blister formation. The production of these autoantibodies is finely regulated by various immune cells and cytokines. This article aims to review the roles of relevant immune cells in the pathogenesis of BP and potential targeted therapeutic strategies.
